Simplicity in music.  That’s the watchword of Jesse Mahlon Lebby singer/songwriter and record producer.

Jesse – whose voice has been likened to that of Smokey Robinson, one of his all time music heroes - grew up on a diet of Gospel music, Motown and the music of Lennon & McCartney, as well as the James Brown records his parents used to play at home.

‘I learned how to make simple, catchy music by listening to the Beatles and all the great Motown acts of the sixties,’ he recalls.  He taught himself the basics of guitar and drums, whilst still very young, started writing songs.

Since his first live gig, Jesse has graced such prestigious venues Rock garden, Subterrania and Ronnie Scott’s where he has won a singer songwriters competition.

In 2000 Jesse formed the Mahlon Lebby Band - a formidable five piece unit, with whom he gigged in different venues across the UK. Together they made what he describes as ‘A unique concoction of African music, soul, funk, jazz and rock.

Since 2005 Jesse has been working as a solo artist whilst continuing the development of his music through experimenting with a variety of musical genres.

The latest offering – ‘Over me’ continues in the tradition of gospel and soul influences that have underpinned his music career.

Jesse has commenced work on a new album and is thoroughly excited about the new material that he hopes to complete recording sometime next year.
